NSR Fishing is excited to announce that it has partnered with the Texas High School Bass Association. The THSBA is known as one of the premier high school bass fishing leagues in the country and with the highly talented group of anglers, NSR Fishing will allow these student anglers the opportunity to promote themselves to college programs and companies within the fishing industry.
“For over 40 years NSR has pursued the best high school athletes in the country and we are now doing the same in fishing. Texas has always been a state that has produced top talent for NSR. NSR currently has twelve scouts that are living and evaluating athletes in the state of Texas. With the number of student anglers competing in THSBA events we believe Texas will produce some of the best talent in high school bass fishing as well” said NSR CEO Rusty Rigney.
THSBA features nine divisions across the state of Texas where anglers in each division are competing to qualify for one of three regionals, ultimately qualifying for the two day state championship on Belton Lake May 14th and 15th.
“We are excited because of what the partnership with NSR Fishing brings to the anglers of the THSBA and their futures in college and on the water” said Matt Tolnay, CEO of operations at Texas High School Bass Association.
In traditional sports NSR scouts are very thorough in their evaluations of athletes. For example, in the sport of baseball when NSR scouts are evaluating a pitcher, that scout is looking at that players physical appearance, attitude on the mound, and the way their mechanics work such as arm slot, leg lift, delivery and release point. By doing a thorough evaluation, scouts are able to determine the projectability of an athlete at a young age.
On the water NSR scouts will be thorough in their evaluation of anglers as well. Watching their casting skills, knowledge of their electronics and the body of water they are fishing, as well as how the angler adjust to certain situations throughout the tournament day. But scouts also look at grades, social media, video skills and want to see a personality and communication skills from these anglers.
NSR Fishing allows all THSBA anglers to build free recruiting profiles that are available to college fishing programs and coaches across the country.
“Texas has some great high school anglers. College coaches want the best. We are ready to show them the best that Texas has to offer” said Rigney.
